According to the preliminary results announced by the PCBS and the PMA, in Q2/2015 the deficit in the constant deficit in the current balance went up by 15.2% to $372.7 million. This deficit was caused by the deficit in the trade balance of goods, equivalent to $1,352.7 million, or 11.0% more than in Q1/2015. This deficit was partially offset by the surplus in the trade balance of services of $10.2 million, compared to a deficit of $2.3 million in the previous quarter; the change was the result of an increase in the export of travel services. The surplus in the income balance equaled $344.9 million, an increase of 3.9% from Q1/2015. The surplus in current transactions rose by 10.5% to $624.9 million.
In Q2/2015, the surplus in the capital and financial account increased significantly – by 73.8% – to $413.0 million. This rise happened mostly as a result of a 123.5% increase in the financial account surplus, equal to $309.6 million in the second quarter of 2015. The capital account surplus also went up – by 4.3% – to $103.4 million.
